Belinda (Bindy) Syminton has been appointed as Senior Procurement Manager by the Department of Finance (Government Procurement). This is a specialist position designed to identify potential contracts for Western Australia’s Disability Enterprises.

Bindy has senior experience as a procurement officer and also worked for several years as a physiotherapist in disability service. She is well equipped to understand both disability and the procurement process.

Bindy’s appointment forms part of a Government effort to increase the quantity and quality of work available to people with disability through Government Procurement. Previously, the Premier , the Hon Colin Barnett and Minister for Finance, the Hon Simon O’Brien, altered Government procurement policy to enable the awarding of contracts to ADEs without tender, provided they represented value for money. The Department has been very supportive and is also examining opportunities for ADEs in Common User Agreements (Panel Contracts).

ADEs look forward to working very closely with Bindy and her Departmental colleagues and wish her every success in her new role.
